Loneliness: Human Nature and the Need for Social Connection by John T. Cacioppo & William Patrick

I bought this book long ago, but have had no mind to read it until recently. However, after reading the initial several pages, I was surprised by its thoughtful contents, and all the time I was reading it, I felt interested and pleased. This book was beyond my expectation! The author, as an academic who studied loneliness for a long time, deals with loneliness from several perspectives, including evolutionary psychology, physiology, anthropology, and ethology. It contains very deep academic content but also is written in plain and kind language. Humans are ‘obligatorily gregarious’ social beings. As I am getting older, social aspects of our lives seem to be nearly all. I became to consider that social thing is the most important thing for our lives in the end. Our life is meaningful only if others are with us.  Written by Shim G.
